Locations & Bestiary

GENERAL
THE GROUND. YOU ARE UNDER IT. The ceiling is hiiiigh up, and covered in patches of something that glows like firelight—brighter in for the 12 hours of day, and darker to pitch black for the 12 hours of night. It is never bright enough to emulate for realz daylight. The air seems still without being stagnant, and the temperature ranges from 65F to 75F depending on the time of day.
• Lizards (fairly common) – derpy but tough, and ranging in size from hamsters to cocker spaniels. The most common are about house-cat size.
• Scorpions (so-so) – a sting will completely numb the affected limb, and the rest of you will feel like you've been rolling naked through stinging nettles.

THE DOME
Unless you're in the caves, tunnels, or forest, you can see the dome. It's a vast, solid stone structure with entrances at each cardinal point. Through those doors lies a cavern within a cavern, and it is there that the games are played. It may or may not be bigger on the inside.

THE DORMS
Each team of six has its own dorm. It's aaaall stone, baby, except for the wooden doors and furniture. It looks a lil' like this!

Inside, there are: six bedrooms containing a bed and a small wooden chest; an open area with a water pump, a hearth, a table and six chairs; a bathroom containing a copper tub; a lavatory.
Items in each bedroom: one spare uniform; a small hunting knife; a pillow and blanket.
Items in living area: a small, reed-woven basket; one large cauldron; two pans; six cups; six plates; basic cutlery; two pieces of flint; a length of rope; a very rudimentary first-aid kit containing a tiny bottle of herbal disinfectant, a small roll of bandages, and sutures.
Dorms are lit by torches bracketed to the walls.
Dorms only lock from the inside.
The team's astrological symbol is carved into the wood of the main door.
• Spiders (so-so) – tiny but delicious, if you're into that kind of thing.

CLIFFS
High cliffs are high! Many parts are treacherous to scramble of climb, but those with sharp eyes, sure footing, and a good nerve for heights should be able to pick out paths. Between the two high altitude dorms, and down to the wooden bridge, there are a couple of stair-like pathways.
• Goats (so-so) – they will chase you.

THE BRIDGE
It's a bridge, made of wood and strong rope.

THE COVE
It's full of dinner, if you like seafood. Two thirds of it, including the deepest parts, are underneath the cliffs, and the visible parts are surrounded by a thin strip of beach.
• Fish (common) – it's impossible to distinguish between the harmless koi carp and the 'here let me bite your face off' koi carp.
• Crabs (rare) – only rare because they're that damn good at pretending to be rocks.

THE TUNNELS & CAVERNS
Ever wanted to go underground underground? Some of these tunnels are surface-level, but many go deeper. And deeper, and deeper. Sizes vary from 'twice your height and three abreast' to 'I hope you like crawling in single file'. There might be an interesting thing or two in some of the caverns, should you find them.
• Velociraptors (fairly rare)
• Cave bunnies (common) – they're black, but their huge eyes reflect torchlight
• Bats (by the bucketload)
• Spiders (so-so) - the same size as a dinner plate, with a painful, poisonous bite. Hallucinations and dizziness, what fun!
• Wall cabbage (fairly common)
• Mimics (rare) - :)

MORIA
… Okay, it's not really Moria. But it is a great big, deep cavern with a narrow, natural 'bridge' cutting across it, and it's also full of shiny things.
• You could've sworn you heard a rumble…

THE RIVER
Fed by an oasis in the deepest, darkest depths of the forest. It flows fast, with a few patches of rapids closer to the cliffs, but the deepest depths are… really, really deep. There are a few places where crossing is possible, whether by hopping across rocks, some daring wading, or creative use of fallen trees.
• Leeches (by the bucketload)
• Fish (common)

THE FIELDS, THE GRASSLANDS, THE WOODS, AND THE FOREST
Wildflower fields, in which you can find vegetables, short grasses, and flowers.
Grasslands, in which you can find long-ass grass that can grow as tall as five feet.
The woods, where there are trees. Some bear fruit!
The forest, which is pretty overgrown.
• All sorts of medicinal herbs (so-so)
• Berry bushes; green are yummy, purple will cause hallucinations and horrible nausea (so-so)
• Potatoes (common)
• Carrots (common)
• Onions (common)
• Grass snakes (rare) – they're brightly colored and have rattles, but they're delicious
• Bunnies (so-so) – they eat carrots and shoes
• Vampiric flying squirrels (so-so) – you don't want to eat them, but the feeling isn't mutual
• Wolves (fairly rare)
• Gao lions (rare; grasslands only) - tiny, adorable lion-things that gaooo. They're kinda like land mammalian land piranhas, in that they can and will eat your everything.
